7/19/18
Body

Through Global Minnesota, a group of international visiting leaders connected with the Youth Leadership Initiative at Wilder Center on July 19, 2018 to learn about the program's programming framework, outreach and impact. The visitors included youth workers from around the world including Ghana, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Poland. They were sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education.

Staff from the Youth Leadership Initiative discussed how the program cultivates leadership in multicultural youth, encourages youth to take action to improve communities, along with how the program can be duplicated in culturally relevant ways. In addition, the group heard about Kofi, a school-based mental health service for African American youth.

The Youth Leadership Initiative expands its community outreach through global exchanges, such as its partnership with Global Minnesota, to build a community of youth leaders equipped with cultural self-awareness, leadership skills and meaningful community action worldwide.
