The Wilder African American Babies Coalition and Projects provides training, education, events, and resource distribution focused on building the capacity of health systems in Minnesota to provide culturally sensitive and high-quality maternal and infant care to Black and Brown families. We work with nonprofit and civic leaders, researchers, child care providers, parents and grandparents, and public health professionals from across the Twin Cities who are committed to promoting the healthy development of African American babies.

Current Projects

Are you pregnant or a new parent? In Minnesota, you have legal protections to help keep you safe and healthy in the workplace.

The Women's Economic Security Act (WESA) strengthens workplace protections and flexibility for pregnant and lactating employees, expands employment opportunities for workers in high-wage, high-demand occupations and reduces the gender pay gap by empowering employees to openly discuss their wages if they wish to do so without fear of retaliation.

The African American Babies Coalition and Projects is providing outreach and training to build awareness to educate employers, soon-to-be new and nursing parents about the Women’s Economic Security Act. Email angela.moore-smith@wilder.org for more information.
