This report summarizes key themes and findings that emerged from the interviews with formerly incarcerated people who participated in Art from the Inside’s (ATFI) Art and Wellness Fellowship. Participants discussed ongoing barriers related to incarceration and reentry, but describe the program as a source of support and hope during and after incarceration.
Art from the Inside is a nonprofit organization that gives a visual voice to currently incarcerated artists, providing fellowships, mentorship, and art supplies. They work to examine effects of the criminal justice system and inspire actions that support racial and economic justice.
