Minnesota and Reservation Homeless Studies

Marquita Cammon

Marquita Cammon (She/Her) is a Minnesota‑based community advocate with extensive experience across the public and nonprofit sectors. As a Black woman raised in a single‑parent household and now a parent herself, her perspective is shaped by resilience, service, and a deep commitment to advancing educational equity and community‑centered systems change. Her passion for this work is rooted in lived experience and reinforced through her involvement in the Education Equity Parent Fellowship where she gained tools to navigate and challenge inequities within public education.

She has served as an Enterprise Solutions Manager and supports civic engagement through her work across Minnesota. She also facilitates parent‑centered spaces that elevate BIPOC voices and foster collective problem‑solving. She applied to the Community Equity Program to strengthen her skills in state and local advocacy and to deepen her ability to embed underrepresented community perspectives into Minnesota’s legislative processes and hopes to gain practical tools, shared learning, and a cohort committed to advancing equitable, community‑driven change.
