Melissa is an experienced behavioral health and community safety researcher dedicated to promoting well-being and effective health and criminal legal systems. She joined Wilder in 2016.
Melissa has extensive experience conducting needs assessments; analyzing legislation and its impacts; evaluating services and programs; and conducting reviews and analyses to better understand behavioral health and community safety challenges, systems, and topical issues. Her interests include behavioral health services and systems, the behavioral health workforce, diversion and deflection programs, crisis response systems and co-responder programs, and firearm violence and policy.
She is also a mental health provider. She has extensive knowledge of mental health interventions and theoretical orientations, services and settings across the continuum of care, and electronic health record systems. Melissa holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Colorado College.
