The Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota provided funding to organizations through the Health Equity in Prevention initiative to advance health equity through policy, systems, and environmental changes. Wilder Research conducted a review of tools than can assess organizational capacity to advance health equity. Evaluation work included conducting ripple effect mapping discussions with HEiP-funded organizations to understand project impacts. Reports also highlight policy work and lessons learned.

This summary presents findings from a process evaluation of a participatory research process with three Minneapolis food shelves (the Brian Coyle Center, Division of Indian Work, and Waite House) to better understand how food shelves can support longer-term food security among participants.

Cycles for Change is a nonprofit organization in the Twin Cities whose mission is to build a diverse and empowered community of cyclists. Beginning in 2013, Cycles for Change received a 5-year contract from the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. In December 2017, a ripple effect mapping discussion captured impacts of the organization over the five years.

This brief report is part of work through the Health Equity in Prevention initiative funded through the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota to advance health equity through policy, systems, and environmental changes in the areas of healthy eating, tobacco control, and active living. It looks at the network of partnerships for one of the funded organizations, Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) and considers how that network has changed over time and the impact of partnerships on CLUES’ work.

These are the results of the Ripple Effect Mapping exercise done with Appetite for Change (AFC) and stakeholders regarding their Health Equity in Prevention funded work. AFC buys produce directly from small, community-based growers who do not grow enough food to have their own table at the farmers market and sells it at the Aggregation and Distribution Table, a community-led farmers market vendor. This report highlights successful strategies and lessons learned from the program.
