Demonstration projects provide opportunities for residents to experience how changes in the design of community spaces, including streets, parks, plazas, and business districts, can create new opportunities for gathering or physical activity and can help advocates learn about residents’ interests and concerns. Evaluations of demonstration projects can help people envision a different use for a space and measure the likely impact if the change became permanent.
