Geoffrey Kaweesa (He/Him) is a human rights, governance, communications, and community engagement professional with over 20 years of experience spanning Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Originally from Uganda, Kaweesa brings a strong multicultural perspective to his work and has been actively engaged in Minnesota’s diverse communities through civic, nonprofit, and community-based initiatives.
Kaweesa is deeply passionate about human rights, equity, inclusive communities, public policy, and empowering underserved populations. His experience includes community mobilization, nonprofit leadership, policy research, public communication, and advocacy. He has served with organizations including the Uganda Association of Minnesota, the United Nations Association–USA Minnesota Chapter, Camphill Village Minnesota, Atlas Corps Fellowship USA and the Rotary Club of Sauk Centre, while also contributing to international youth and leadership initiatives.
He applied to the Community Equity Program to strengthen his leadership, deepen his understanding of Minnesota’s equity landscape, and build stronger connections with community leaders and institutions. His goal is to translate his international experience into meaningful grassroots and policy-level engagement that advances inclusion, civic participation, and equitable opportunities for Minnesota’s diverse communities.
