Saratu (She/Her) is a Nigerian American born and raised in Saint Paul, and lives in the Frogtown community. She is dedicated to advancing health and wellness for Black communities across the diaspora. Her passion for health equity and strong belief in universal healthcare have guided her pursuit of a career in public health, with plans to earn a master’s degree in health policy. Saratu applied to the Community Equity Program to deepen her understanding of how policies and systems shape community outcomes. She was drawn to the program’s structure with its longer duration, consistent learning structure, community building, and immersive experiences. She believes this combination learning style will further drive her ability to create meaningful change in our healthcare system through public policy.
