In 2021-2022, Clay County, Dei Consulting, and Wilder Research conducted a survey of adults who live in Clay County and identify as New Americans. The survey asked about access to and familiarity with mental health services, barriers to receiving services, sources of mental health support, and mental health and substance use concerns for their family and community. This report presents survey results, study methodology, and demographics of respondents.
Clay County received a Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grant from the Minnesota Department of Health to better understand the well-being of New Americans (i.e., immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers) and identify ways the county could help improve well-being.
