This report summarizes the findings from a behavioral health needs assessment of veterans in Minnesota, focused on veterans’ experiences, needs and recommendations regarding mental and behavioral health. It shows that many veterans are accessing the support they need, but that there are statewide shortages in behavioral health providers and other barriers for accessing services.

Minnesota Veterans Behavioral Health Needs Assessment

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) contracted with Wilder Research to conduct a behavioral health needs assessment of Veterans in Minnesota. This assessment set out to identify the mental and behavioral health needs of Minnesota Veterans, the existing mental and behavioral health resources available to them, and the opportunities to address any unmet mental or behavioral health needs of this population.
