Caregiver Education Opportunities
Sometimes becoming a caregiver can feel like starting a new job. And like any new job, the more you know the more confident you will feel. Take advantage of educational opportunities to learn more about the illness of the person you are caring for, understand strategies to communicate with others and ways to manage your emotions during difficult times.
Classes through Wilder Caregiver Services
Wilder Caregiver Services frequently offers educational opportunities for caregivers, including:
Powerful Tools for Caregivers
This six-week evidence-based program provides caregivers with tools to gain better communication techniques, increase self-care and build confidence while managing emotions.
A six-week class for people who are new to caregiving for someone with a dementia diagnosis or starting to seek support for caregiving for someone with a dementia diagnosis. Topics include dementia information, communication techniques, resources available and stress-management. During the class, care partners are invited to participate in Wilder’s Adult Day Health program as space is available.
Pre-screenings will take place in September. Call 651-280-CARE (2273) for more information.
Housing Tour Series
A three-part series for seniors and caregivers interested in learning more about memory care housing options.
