Recent immigration enforcement activity and related news have increased fear, uncertainty, and isolation for many of our families, friends, clients, and colleagues. If you or someone you care about is feeling overwhelmed or stuck, please remember that Wilder is here to help. Learn more about our mental health services and/or request an appointment at wilder.org/mental-health.

How to Talk to Children About Difficult News
Parents often ask us how to talk to their children about difficult things that are happening in the world and in our lives. Although the response can vary broadly depending on the age of the child and the circumstances, keeping some basic elements in mind will help the conversation along.
- Have a simple plan in mind.
- Choose a calm time to talk.
- Find out what they know and follow their lead.
- Be honest about your feelings without being overly detailed or explicit.
- Share age-appropriate facts.
