About This Event

Are you looking for part-time summer work that gets you out into the beautiful parks and trails of the Twin Cities? Are you a student of the environmental or social sciences and want some real-world field experience? Are you a multi-lingual speaker looking to get paid more for your skills? This parks and trails study could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Join us virtually or in person at the Wilder Center in St. Paul for this hybrid info session on March 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. to find out if this could be your perfect summer opportunity.

At the session, you will:

  • Learn about the study from Wilder’s researchers
  • Hear from past interviewers about their experience conducting the study
  • Get all your questions answered

Parking and room information for in-person attendance and Zoom information for virtual attendance will be sent to registrants closer to the event.

About the Job

Background

Wilder is seeking 25-30 individuals to conduct in-person interviews for the Metropolitan Council 2026 Park and Trail Visitors Study. Interviews will take place in parks and on trails throughout the Twin Cities metro area. Hourly pay is $21. Paid training is provided.

Schedule and Work Environment

  • The project runs from May through the first week in September
  • 20–40 hours per week, depending on availability
  • Shifts are available seven days a week, including weekends and holidays
  • Some weekend work is required
  • The position requires reliable transportation to a variety of parks and trails across the seven-county metro
  • Interviewers must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time and work in all sorts of weather

Job qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional attitude, promptness, and attention to detail
  • Good listening skills
  • Comfort using a tablet
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interviewing experience NOT required
  • High school diploma or GED NOT required
  • Candidates who can speak and read Hmong, Karen, Somali, Spanish, or Vietnamese are encouraged to apply; higher hourly pay is provided for non-English interviews
