Scott Hoang (He/Him) is passionate about health equity and food sovereignty. He is a first-generation Vietnamese American and currently lives in South Minneapolis. He recently earned his Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities and is now completing his clinical hours to become a registered dietitian. One project he is especially proud of is creating a trauma-informed toolkit for food pantries and food banks across the state, designed to help staff serve patrons in a more compassionate and dignified way.
Scott applied to the Community Equity Program to deepen his understanding of the public sector landscape here in the Twin Cities. He is excited to meet others who are equally passionate about building more equitable communities, and to learn how policies are created and implemented. He believes issues like food insecurity and racial health disparities are systemic problems—and he is committed to being part of the solution.
