Kaysone (Kay) Syonesa (She/Her) was born in the Salavan Province of Laos,has heritage from Laos and Vietnam and is part of the 1.5 generation. She has many years working alongside communities of color as an individual artist and with organizations at the local, national, and international level. She brings a multitude of talent from the private, nonprofit, education, and government sectors. Since 2021, she has been the Co-Executive Director at The SEAD Project, a nonprofit where creative and literary storytellers redefine what community development, cultural representation, and advocacy looks like for the Southeast Asian diaspora. She is excited to be a part of the Community Equity Program to advance her advocacy skills and more. By having this opportunity, it positions her to transfer what she learns to the work she does in community, to dream of possibilities of the impact we can make, and to reimagine a political system where our communities are represented and are not afraid to show up to voice the things that matter.
