Alul Yesak (She/Her) is an Ethiopian American scholar and advocate for educational equity. As a first-generation college graduate and current PhD candidate in Education Policy at the University of Minnesota, her research focuses on the educational experiences of immigrants and their children in U.S. K–12 schools. She is deeply passionate about public education and is committed to creating more inclusive, equitable systems. Alul has held leadership roles across Minnesota’s education landscape, including charter school oversight, nonprofit leadership, and state-level education work. She continues to focus on writing, research, and collaborative equity projects that bridge policy and community voice. She applied to the Community Equity Program to grow her skills in systems change, connect with a network of community-driven leaders, and further explore how to center lived experience in educational policy and practice.
