Driving diversity, equity, and inclusion in Minnesota’s workforce

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Collaborative is a community leadership program offered at the Wilder Foundation that provides chief officers and executive leaders – champions of change – with a space to share real-world, actionable ideas, challenges and successes about workforce diversity, equity and inclusion. Together with leaders, we work to close gaps in employment opportunities and strengthen our region’s economic forecast through more effective recruitment and retention.

The Wilder Foundation has made the incredibly difficult decision to close the Wilder Center for Communities and end many of its community leadership programs. 

The DEI Collaborative will continue to operate out of the Wilder Foundation through the conclusion of its current executive cohort in the summer of 2020. We are currently exploring possibilities for a new operating structure and organizational home for the DEI Collaborative, and plan to announce a transition plan and dates for future cohorts in the coming months.

What is the DEI Collaborative Program for Executive Leaders?

The DEI Collaborative brings chief officers and executive leaders within the Twin Cities and Minnesota together to support and strengthen their organization’s goals of a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. Through collaborative, facilitator-led sessions, leaders explore:

  • Organizational best practices and strategies
  • Approaches to closing employment opportunity gaps
  • Improving recruitment and employee retention practices
  • Personal intercultural awareness and competency

The DEI Collaborative really allowed me to not just understand the process, the language, but the real meaning of what inclusion is.
