American Indians in Minnesota Experience Worse COVID Impacts than Reported: via Star Tribune

An Opinion Exchange article published by the Star Tribune today points to new data from a University of Minnesota study shows that American Indians in Minnesota are suffering even greater losses due to the pandemic than official data indicates.

The co-authors, including Wilder Research Senior Research Manager Nicole MartinRogers, share that social determinants of health, racism, and the suppression of Indigenous cultures, languages and traditions have led to higher-than-average mortality in the American Indian population during the COVID pandemic, and offer suggestions to address this systemic disparity.
