Norma N. Carrera-Perez (She/Her) is a bilingual community professional rooted in early childhood, youth development, and systems-level advocacy. She currently serves as the Empowerment Specialist at CLUES, where she supports both the Early Childhood Initiatives and Youth in Action teams. Her journey began with youth development programs like Girls State, Wilder’s Youth Leadership Initiative, and CLUES’ Youth at Work and she developed a love for serving her community through the impact that these programs had in developing her social, professional and self-identity.
Norma holds a B.S. in Social Work from St. Kate’s and she is currently pursuing her master’s in advocacy and political leadership at Metro State. She also holds certifications in CPR, Conflict Resolution, and Mental Health First Aid for her position. She believes in meaningful, empathic, and human-centered systems change. That is why she applied to the Community Equity Program, because she wants to continue to improve and be a part of those system agitators, with the tools and skills to shake up the system at its core.
