Community and Leadership
The Wilder Foundation’s vision is for Saint Paul to be a vibrant community where all individuals, families and neighborhoods can prosper, with opportunities to work, to be engaged, for decent housing, good schools and where people can receive the support during times of need. This vision is reflected in its commitment to create leadership programs that nurture and build the skills of emerging community leaders and renew the energy and commitment of experienced leaders.
Programs in the Wilder Center for Communities such as the Youth Leadership Initiative, Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood, and the establishment of the Wilder Center in 2007—a place where people can come together to work on community issues—all support Wilder’s mission to building a strong Saint Paul community.
The Wilder Foundation believes that youth have exceptional skills and talents that have the potential to greatly impact the community. It is with this belief that leadership initiatives were designed to help youth identify and build on their strengths and experiences to develop strong, effective leadership skills. With the right amount of support, everyone has the ability to become a successful leader. Through Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood, over 70 partners are promoting a community-wide effort to ensure all children succeed in school and in life by engaging residents to develop cradle-to-career support.
In partnership with residents, nonprofit and business organizations, foundations and governmental units, we are working together to identify social issues important to the Saint Paul community and implement possible solutions.
