Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation. Wilder Volunteers make an impact by supporting our mission in a variety of ways for both individuals and groups.

If you are interested in volunteering in any of the following areas, send an email to volunteers@wilder.org with your full name, best contact number to reach you and mention the available opportunity from the list below.

African American Babies Coalition and Projects

The African American Babies Coalition and Projects is looking for an intern! The intern will volunteer as a community collaboration builder with the Integrated Care and High Risk Pregnancy Initiative. Find out how to apply!

Twin Cities Mobile Market (TCMM)

General Assistants

As General Assistants, volunteers have a wide multitude of tasks, including welcoming and greeting customers, assisting with crowd control, communicating the mobile market concept and mission to customers, connecting customers with healthy recipes and other resources available on the mobile market. Additional duties include helping bag, restocking shelves, and assignments from the TCMM staff. Seeking volunteers with great customer service skills.

Sponsor a Stop

Gather a team from your workplace to ensure volunteer coverage for a specific TCMM stop on a regular basis! Your team will commit to developing a volunteer schedule that provides at least one volunteer from your company to work a specific Mobile Market stop each week. Depending on the size of your team, your team members can volunteer once a month or once a quarter. In addition, there are group opportunities for holding events and conducting fun activities during the Mobile Market stops (e.g., financial counseling workshops, providing free hot cocoa, etc.).

Warehouse Organization and Clean-Up

Gather a team of 810 people and help organize and clean the TCMM warehouse. Depending on the size of the group, the time commitment for this opportunity ranges from 24 hours.

Community Engagement

Help get the word out about the Twin Cities Mobile Market by going distributing flyers door-to-door, displaying posters in community businesses, and working the Twin Cities Mobile Market booth at community events. Outreach volunteers have the flexibility to work a one-time event or commit to ongoing activities as their schedules permit.

Healthy Aging & Caregiver Services

General Assistant

Put a smile on someone’s face, as you serve a hearty noon meal to older adults who are part of Wilder's Adult Day Health Program at the Community Center for Aging. You’ll assist the staff with meal service, field trips or at the front desk and be rewarded with grateful smiles from the clients we serve. Work with our program coordinator to determine the dates and times which fit your schedule.

Meals on Wheels Delivery Drivers

Brighten someone's day by delivering a hot meal and an anticipated visit from a welcome face. We are seeking Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers to deliver noon meals to older adults and those with limited mobility in the Saint Paul area. Meals on Wheels visits mean so much to our participants and routes typically take less than an hour. Volunteer drivers are needed Monday-Friday on a daily or weekly basis, whatever your schedule permits. Join our team of volunteer drivers and spread a little sunshine in the East Metro!

Caregiver Services Evidence-Informed Workshop Leader

As a co-leader for Powerful Tools for Caregivers, you’ll guide caregivers and/or older adults through an established curriculum that is part of Wilder Caregiver Services. You’ll partner with another Wilder volunteer to lead the evidence-informed series, using scripts and guidelines as prescribed by the program. With your help, we can give caregivers in our community the support they need to care for their loved ones.
