Governor Walz Visits Wilder Child Development Center


On May 10, 2021, Governor Tim Walz and and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan visited the Wilder Child Development Center to talk about the importance of the Child Care Assistance Program, which helps families access high-quality child care programs. They were joined by Representative Rena Moran and Dave Pinto, Bharti Wahi of the Children's Defense Fund-Minnesota, Angie Clair, director of Wilder’s Child Development Center, and Shawnice, a parent whose children attend Wilder’s CDC.

Governor Walz noted, "We have to ensure that our littlest learners have what they need. Not only to they deserve it, we need them. They are our future teachers, our future doctors."

Speaking about the Child Care Assistance Program, Shawnice said, “It gives you peace of mind. I’m here because my kids deserve a chance like any other kid. I want my kids to have a career.”
