School Success Programs

In 1911, at a time when Saint Paul's working poor had few child care options outside of school hours, the Wilder Charity (Foundation) opened an innovative day nursery that provided a safe place to stay, nutritional meals, regular health monitoring and activities that supported school success.

Wilder's focus on school success continues today. It has evolved over the years to include programs that address the particular challenges faced by Saint Paul's Southeast Asian and African American populations, mental health services through our Child Guidance Clinic, support and education for in-home child care centers, and a variety of in-school programs. Our program areas include:
