A brief overview of major research about troubled children and youth, including definition of how the term "troubled" is used in this report, what is known about causes and impacts of their troubles, and effective approaches for working with them. An estimated 6,000 children and youth in Ramsey County have severe, long-term difficulties that make it very hard for them to function at home, at school, and in the community.
