Survey of older adults in Ramsey County

Quality of life and community
March 2004: Cara Bailey and Melissa Barker

It is a mistake, say the authors, to think of the coming "senior population boom" merely as a time of greater needs. Older adults are vital to the social and economic life of their communities. This survey of about 500 older adults in Ramsey County, a joint effort of Ramsey County and the Wilder Foundation, explores many dimensions of the quality of life for older adults, ranging from basic needs to the intangible things that add meaning and satisfaction to life. Survey participants also commented on changes that would make their community a better place for older adults to live.
