Survey Project Coordinator

Rena facilitates data collection for research and evaluation projects by coordinating survey projects for both Wilder Foundation programs as well as other clients.  She trains interviewers for individual projects, and develops, sets up, and maintains record-keeping systems and databases for various projects.

Rena holds an M.S. in Mental Health Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin–Stout and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.  She has completed partial coursework for an M.S. in Applied Psychology.

Research interests include the field of psychology and mental health, American Indian issues, military veterans and military families, Elders and resilience, Elder issues, and end-of-life issues, such as grief and loss, death and dying.

Recent and on-going projects include:

  • Data collection and follow-up interviewing for evaluation of Back to Basics parent education series
  • Data collection for evaluation of the onsite partnership of primary medical care and mental health care
  • Drug program evaluation for southern Minnesota counties
  • Renters survey for evaluation of apartment conditions in Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs
  • Shannon Leadership Institute program evaluations by participant key informant interviews
  • Focus groups recruited and conducted for study on long-term care in the State of Minnesota.  Focus groups included diverse cultural groups from the American Indian, Hmong, Latino, Somali, and African American communities
  • Art-on-Loan Project bringing in rural and community artists to exhibit their work at Wilder Research
