9:15 a.m. Breakout SessionsSession 1 - Economics of building green - Wilder's experience: A green building requires added costs to plan and build. But elements of green design may create cost savings over the life of the building. This session will focus on the analysis Wilder and partners did to determine what features to include. (Presented by: Mark Kahn, Wilder Foundation Senior Project Manager and Chad Brady, Duke Construction L.P. Project Manager)
Session 2 - The elements of energy efficiency design in Wilder Center: The carbon footprint of the Wilder Center is minimized through daylighting and a unique displacement ventilation system. (Presented by: Mark Miller, Wilder Center Maintenance Administrator and Randy Olson, PE, LEED AP Senior Associate / Mechanical - Dunham Engineering)
Session 3 - LEED partnerships and design process: The process of designing a LEED building and seeking certification begins with owner commitment and clearly articulated design drivers. Achieving certification requires numerous effective partnerships and an integrated design process. (Presented by: Mary Kay Palmer, Wilder Foundation Director of Real Estate/Asset Management and Dale Emter, Duke Construction Pre-Construction Manager)
Session 4 - The ethics of sustainability: This session explores the connection between sustainable design, social responsibility, and larger macro issues such as global warming. (Presented by: Brad Baso, Wilder Foundation Project Manager and Doug Pierce, Perkins+Will LEED Certified Senior Associate)

This open house is designed for Wilder Foundation colleagues, collaborators and partners. Wilder programs across the organization will be showcased and community professionals will have an opportunity to see the new building.
