
Back in the early 1920s, child psychiatry was a long way from being a recognized specialty. Thus, the Wilder Charity (Foundation) was entering new territory in 1924 when it opened one of the first child guidance clinics in the country.
Today the Wilder Child Guidance Clinic continues to be nationally recognized as a premier outpatient mental health clinic. It is one of more than a dozen Wilder programs that assist children, families and adults who are having serious problems functioning in their homes, schools and other community settings.
