Cael assists with a number of data collection and research tasks including: assembling and managing data files; conducting basic statistical analyses; drafting literature reviews, reports, and proposals; codebook development and coding; survey and key informant interviewing; reviewing Spanish translations; and developing survey instruments.

Cael’s primary research interests are community development (especially urban green space and small-scale food production), linking rural and urban food systems, the impact of sustainable agricultural methods on household welfare (income, nutrition, etc.), and more generally, services that impact the historically poor and/or marginalized like governmental assistance, adult education, public transit, affordable housing, and public education.

Prior to joining Wilder Research in January 2011, Cael served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador and as a Program Assistant at the Land Stewardship Project. Cael received his B.A. in Economics and Environmental Studies from Macalester College.
