Support for Transitions


Research indicates that students face heightened stress when entering a new school environment or departing from a familiar one. Accordingly, Achievement Plus establishes a support network for students and families experiencing a transition in or out of the school.

Examples: Programs such as the Peer Buddy System and New Family Orientation ensure that families making a difficult transition will encounter an open, positive environment, thus ensuring a quicker, less traumatic period of adjustment. Additionally, all students are prepared for the transition to middle school through activities including campus visits and guest speakers. Early childhood services also fall into this category, and are particularly useful in building early relationships with local families and ensuring that children are academically and socially prepared to enter kindergarten.
