Parental involvement in their child’s education has been proven to increase academic achievement. By addressing the needs of parents, Achievement Plus learning supports empower families and allow them to be active partners in the educational process. Family Resource Centers, located within the school, offer training, assistance, and education to families and encourage parents to become involved with the school community and its support network.
Examples: Family Resource Centers offer assistance to families in accessing resources for basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing. Additionally, adult education, including GED opportunities, English language instruction, and enrichment courses such as crafts or cooking, offer parents the skills they need to become active partners in the educational process. Parent-teacher conferences, family events, and close communication with the home build a bond between parents and the school.
