Achievement Plus

Achievement Plus is a partnership between the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation and the Saint Paul Public Schools to improve the academic achievement of low-income children in Saint Paul urban schools. Evaluation results are presented for one of the program sites, Cleveland Junior High School. The briefs describe the overall program, highlight results and lessons learned, and look at the benefits and effectiveness of the community partnerships. The 2009-10 report describes how Achievement Plus fits into community school efforts nationally, how well community partnerships are working, and how well students at the three participating schools are performing. It includes a brief literature review on the key features of successful community schools and evidence of their effectiveness.
