Crowd Funding Campaign Success!
Twin Cities Mobile Market exceeded its crowd funding campaign goal to raise $10,000 to fill the bus with fresh, healthy foods. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign and shared it with friends and family, Twin Cities Mobile Market raised $12,045! These funds will get the Mobile Market off to a great start when the program launches summer 2014. Thank you to everyone who helped make the campaign a success! What is Twin Cities Mobile Market?
Twin Cities Mobile Market is a grocery store on wheels that brings affordable, healthy food directly into under-resourced neighborhoods. It fills a gap between food shelves and full-service supermarkets by providing a wide selection of fresh foods at below-market prices.
Many Twin Cities residents live in neighborhoods with limited access to affordable, healthy food. Residents in these neighborhoods face higher risks of diabetes, heart disease, and other negative health impacts.
In 2013, Wilder adopted a strategic priority to improve community health and well-being in low-income neighborhoods. Because access to healthy food is a key factor to neighborhood well-being, Wilder is implementing the Twin Cities Mobile Market as an innovative approach to improving community health.
Twin Cities Mobile Market is currently under development. We’re gathering community input into the model and plan to launch in late spring 2014. We’ll be sharing updates frequently as we get ready to roll—stay tuned for more details!
