Community Center for Aging Features

Wilder’s Community Center for Aging is a safe, stimulating environment for older adults and their caregivers. Built specifically with the needs of older adults in mind, the Center provides ample room for Adult Day Health activities, dedicated space for older adults with memory loss, a spa room and a caregiving resource library.

Day Room

The Day Room is the largest space in the Center and is suitable for a variety of creative arts and active living programs. Participants in the general Adult Day Health program enjoy arts enrichment, exercise activities, dance, music, and social time. The large windows look out onto the backyard garden space and provide plenty of natural light year-round.

Day Room Activities

Great Room

The Great Room was designed for Adult Day participants who are experiencing early-to-mid-stage memory loss who require more attention and less stimulation. The room allows for many of the same arts and health activities as the Day Room in a quieter setting. Because our program offers a continuum of care, participants often float between rooms depending on their abilities and interests.

Sun Room

The Sun Room is intended for participants with mid-to-late-stage memory loss. This space was designed to be soothing, comforting and familiar, with many features that make the space feel like a home. Participants receive individual care and attention and enjoy activities at the highest possible level. This space provides natural light and views to the garden as well as many safety and security features.

Our onsite spa features a wheelchair accessible Jacuzzi tub and a small salon. Volunteer hairstylists visit regularly to offer their services during the program day.

Creative Arts Room
Art Room

Because of the variety of creative arts programs we offer, the Community Center for Aging includes a dedicated art room. This room is perfect for messier arts projects like pottery, painting. Participants proudly display their works of art in this room and throughout the Center.

Dining Room

Our large dining room is perfect for coffee chats in the morning and nutritious lunches. Participants have options for lunches each day and we can accommodate special diets. There are no additional costs for meals to Adult Day Health participants.

Backyard Garden

One of the most popular features of our Center, the backyard is space for walking, enjoying the outdoors, therapeutic gardening and much more. With the help of volunteer master gardeners, participants grow fruits and vegetables, many of which are used in meals at the Center.

Caregiving Resource Library

Our library is full of resources that help caregivers navigate their caregiving journey. From the library staff provide a wealth of knowledge related to self-care, respite, assistance programs and much more. The space is frequently used for consultations with family members of Adult Day Health participants, though it is open to the public during daytime hours.
