On Thursday October 23 and Friday October 24, Wilder Foundation hosted the Integrative Mental Health Conference and Expo sponsored by 1,000 Petals. More than 150 clinicians, social workers, therapists and other professionals attended the conference, which highlighted both traditional treatment as well as holistic healing methods. The conference featured several educational sessions related to mind-body wellness including yoga, creativity, mindfulness and play therapy. Krista Nelson of Wilder's Attachment and Trauma Training Program presented a session on strategies for raising adolescents with attachment loss and aggressive behavior.
Keynote speaker Henry Emmons, MD, kicked off the conference with his presenation "The Science of Hope: Blending New Science and Ancient Wisdom to Sustain a Healthy Mind, Mood and Heart." The expo featured more than 30 local vendors offering holistic services related to the health and well-being of children, parents, educators and clinicians.
