Incredible Years provides a comprehensive parent, teacher and child curricula for children age 2-8 and their parents and teachers. The curricula work jointly to promote emotional and social competence and to prevent, reduce and treat children’s behavioral and emotional problems. It is based on best practices and is a project of the Wilder Foundation’s Child Guidance Clinic, which serves the greater Saint Paul, Minnesota, area.
This project is being implemented in Head Start sites, in the Wilder Child Development Center and the Child Guidance Clinic. Activities include a parent training/support program to help parents respond to their child’s needs, a child treatment group for young children who show high rates of aggression, defiance, and oppositional or impulsive behaviors and a teacher training program to assist teachers with classroom management of aggressive children in order to change child behavior in the class and build positive relationships with students.
