The Wilder Child Development Center (CDC) is a full-day child care and early childhood education program for children ages 16 months to kindergarten who reside in greater Saint Paul. The program is designed to promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of participants, including age-appropriate proficiency in personal and social
skills, language and literacy, and mathematical thinking. It is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) National Academy of Early Childhood Development Programs.
The Child Development Center’s curriculum, delivered by qualified and caring staff, emphasizes multi-cultural and multi-sensory activities that promote younger children’s readiness for school. The CDC offers research-based and best practice models such as Doors to Discovery literacy curriculum and Incredible Years social/emotional development curriculum. The nurturing environment is enhanced by a high child/teacher ratio.
Family outreach is an important component of the Child Development Center. Monthly family events, field trips, athletic activities, art programs and a Parent Advisory Group are all a part of promoting positive family functioning. To accommodate varying family needs and schedules, the CDC offers extended hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The CDC’s physical space provides participants with a variety of learning and play settings including a large classroom, gymnasium, five playgrounds, and a nature area. Healthy, home-cooked meals and snacks are provided to ensure children receive proper nutrition throughout the day.
