Concordia Arms is a 125-unit, Section 8 subsidized apartment building providing affordable housing to adults aged 62 and older, and people with qualifying mobility impairments. It is located in suburban Maplewood, within easy walking distance of Maplewood Park and the Maplewood Mall.
Services and features
Residents of Concordia Arms benefit from a variety of services, including easy access to transportation, postal, and dairy services, grocery delivery, on-site laundry facilities, and access to a service coordinator.
Concordia residents also have access to Wilder Home Health Services and other personal care, nutrition, and health monitoring services through L.I.N.C.S. (Living Independently with Choices and Services).
Staff and residents of Concordia also use the “Eden Alternative Philosophy,” which helps empower residents to participate in building connections between residents, staff, families, and the Maplewood Community. Through forming and participating in committees (such as garden clubs, craft clubs, and welcoming committees), residents exercise control over their daily lives by providing a useful service to others.
Measuring success
Concordia Arms is evaluated every three years by Wilder Research. The evaluation looks at how residents perceive the quality of the housing environment, the staff, the quality of the services delivered, and the quality of the activities provided.

“I don’t know of anything I don’t like, really and truly. I have absolutely no complaints. I’m very contented here.”
“It’s like a family here. There are a lot of activities, but you’re not pressured to go. The staff are nice. It’s safe and clean, and close to a bus line. There are a lot of new things to do.”
