Laura McLain


Research Associate, MIS

Laura's work in program evaluation and research includes coordination, user support, and report design for Minnesota's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). She also works on other research and evaluation projects, assisting with evaluation design, managing projects, monitoring data collection, analyzing data, and writing reports.

Before joining Wilder Research in 2000, Laura worked as a labor market analyst for the State of Minnesota and administered local and statewide surveys. She has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and an M.A. in Public Affairs with a focus on social policy and nonprofit management from the University of Minnesota.

Recent projects

  • Minnesota's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a database for organizations that provide services to people experiencing homelessness
  • An evaluation of Admission Possible, a program to increase college admission among low-income students
  • Survey of community norms about alcohol and marijuana use by youth
  • Survey of community needs and resources in the Saint Croix Valley
  • Evaluation of welfare reform efforts in a suburban community
