Nicole works on oversight and management of the data collection unit at Wilder Research, including design and implementation of scientifically sound survey research and consultation with internal and external clients to select appropriate data collection methodologies.

Her research interests include education and other youth development programs, especially those for American Indian and other minority youth; affordable housing and other neighborhood issues; workforce development; and self-sufficiency of low-income individuals and families.

Nicole holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in public policy from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota, with a concentration in nonprofit management and policy analysis. Nicole is currently working toward her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation topic is: measuring changes in self-reliance over time among low-income families and assessing the impact of social services.

  • A neighborhood needs assessment for three neighborhoods in Duluth
  • Surveys of youth and their parents around Minnesota regarding their experiences with out-of-school time programs for the University of Minnesota Center for 4H Youth Development
  • A community needs assessment for the UCAN Partnership of Kandiyohi County
  • Work on the Self-Reliance Achievement Scale (SRAS) with the Minnesota Community Action Association
