Cheryl Holm-Hansen

Cheryl provides research consultation to a wide range of human services programs. She designs program evaluations and other applied research projects, oversees the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, presents evaluation results to a variety of stakeholder groups, and assists stakeholders in using evaluation results to guide service and system improvements.

Cheryl's research interests include child and adolescent mental health, youth violence and delinquency, risk and resilience, and family relationships. In addition to providing evaluation and research training to community groups, she teaches college courses in psychology and human services.

Cheryl has a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology and an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Ohio State University, and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts.


Recent projects

  • Assistance to Ramsey County Community Corrections in the development and validation of a risk assessment inventory to be used as part of their Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative
  • An evaluation of the Foundations for Success initiative, a Knight Foundation-funded initiative designed to promote the accessibility and quality of mental health services for children from birth to age 5
  • Lead evaluator for the Children Succeed Initiative, a six-county children's mental health system of care funded by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
  • Publication of a series of reports regarding Minnesota's current services for victims of domestic and sexual assault for the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs
  • A nine-year evaluation of the Cargill Scholars program, which provides intensive support to academically at-risk youth
  • Evaluation of the Minneapolis Foundation's Destination 2010 initiative, which provides academic support and scholarships to at-risk youth in Minneapolis and Saint Paul
  • Statewide training and technical assistance to build evaluation capacity of agencies funded by the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs, including Weed and Seed grantees, community crime prevention grantees, crime victims services grantees, and drug court grantees
